Holiday fun!

Happy New Year everyone!

I sure hope everyone has enjoyed their break by spending time with family and friends...I know I have!

Before we left for our winter break, first grade had their program and a fun party!

Check out the Smilebox slideshow below to see pictures from both of these fun events :)

subtraction.

We're knee deep in subtraction and everyone is doing such a great job!

We had some fun centers earlier this week that included Math-o-Lantern Subtraction and Buggy Subtraction :)

Each jack-o-lantern had a number 0-10 on the back. The popsicle sticks had subtraction facts on them with no answer.  Students had to figure out the difference and place the stick in the correct pumpkin.  Then, students wrote their subtraction sentences on a paper pumpkin. They had lots of fun!

Buggy Subtraction used beads as "bugs" to help make their own subtraction sentences.  Students then wrote their subtraction sentences on their dry erase boards and had lots of fun!

I'm so proud of everyone and all of their great work in our subtraction chapter!

Thank you Donors Choose!

Over the summer, I posted a project for a classroom rug on to Donors Choose.

Much to my surprise, the project was funded within a week of posting!

Our new rug makes our classroom bright and cheery and is used for seating during phonics, calendar math, centers, and so much more!

We love our new rug! Thanks for all the generous donations!
